SpiceJet to introduce Patna-Delhi flight from July 10

The new SpiceJet service will take the number of flights from Patna to the national capital to 19 daily. Jet Airways will, however, withdraw its morning connection between Patna and Delhi from July 15.

Patnaites will now get an additional flight to Delhi, with SpiceJet introducing a direct flight between the two destinations from July 10, taking the number of flights from here to 33 daily.

With this, Patnaites will have 19 flights to choose from for the national capital between July 10 and 15, after which Jet Airways will withdraw its morning Delhi-Patna-Delhi connection. The Jet Airways had introduced its morning flight for a limited period between June 18 and July 15.

The SpiceJet, which is commencing operations in a big way from July 1, will operate five flights before adding one more to Delhi from July 10.

Among the seven destinations SpiceJet will connect, three - Chennai, Hyderabad and Surat - are new to Patnaites. Kolkata, Mumbai, Bengaluru and Delhi are the other four destinations. Of these destinations, Surat and will be single hop flights.

The flight to Surat will be through Kolkata while its Chennai flight will hop six days a week via Hyderabad, while it will be direct on Tuesday, SpiceJet general manager (sales & marketing-East) Debjit Ghosh told Hindustan Times.

He said the airline will provide direct flights from Patna to Kolkata, Delhi, Mumbai and Hyderabad seven days a week.

Asked about future plans, Ghosh said, “Patna is emerging as the top air station in east India after Kolkata and Guwahati. We may evaluate passenger load and decide on new destinations from Patna at a later stage. As of now, we will concentrate on our six flights, which will connect seven destinations.”

The airline is offering competitive fares, ranging from as low as Rs 1,449 between Patna and Kolkata to Rs 4939 between Surat and Patna.

Of the 19 flying options, which will be available for Delhi, IndiGo will operate eight flights, Jet Airways four, GoAir and Air India three each and SpiceJet one.

Similarly, IndiGo has three flights to Kolkata, while SpiceJet will have one. For Mumbai, IndiGo offers three flights, GoAir one and SpiceJet will have one. Lucknow has two flights of IndiGo. Bangalore has two flights of IndiGo, GoAir one and SpiceJet will have one. IndiGo and GoAir have two flights each to Ranchi. Chennai and Surat will have a flight each to Surat and Chennai.
