"There seems to be a trust deficit between the Army and the Ministry of Defence. It is not a good sign for the country," Kumar told reporters.

He was responding to a question that General VK Singh had claimed that he wrote a letter to the Ministry of Defence in 2010 alleging irregularities in defence purchases and after a long time a CBI inquiry was ordered.

"These issues should have been handled more carefully," Kumar said.
