The tragedy occurred at Jehanabad's Navgadh village, a mere 80 km from Patna.

On August 18, barber Biseshwar Thakur made the mistake of refusing to shave Tunnu Sharma. The enraged man opened fire at Thakur's house and molested his teenage daughter when she tried to shield him. As the girl resisted, he turned the gun at her.

Today, the 15-year-old is in hospital, the vision in her left eye completely gone.

Doctors at the Patna Medical College and Hospital are struggling to save her right eye.

Sharma, a security guard by profession, roams free.

"We are trying to arrest the accused," said Jehanabad superintendent of police Harpreet Kaur. A case had been lodged by the local police.

On Tuesday, an RJD delegation led by the party's state president Ramchandra Purve, met the girl and demanded immediate action against the culprit.
