Vaishali encounter: 3 killed with inter-state master mind of gold loot case, AK 47s recovered

Three dreaded criminals, including an interstate mastermind involved in looting gold, were killed in a fierce gun battle with Special Task Force (STF) in Vaishali on the Saturday morning, said police.
Two AK-47 assault rifles, one Bareta pistol, one revolver and live cartridges were recovered in the encounter that took place at Hasanpur ‘diara’ (riverine belt) under Mahnar police station, around 48 km from the state capital. Police also arrested three alleged criminals.
Those were killed identified as Manish Singh alias Ranveer, a resident of Raghopur (Vaishali), Mohammad Abdul Imam alias Rajkumar (Muzaffarpur) and Mohammad Abdul Aman alias Tiwari (Samastipur). The arrested persons were identified as Mukesh Kumar Singh (Patna), Binod Kumar Singh (Vaishali) and Bachhu Sah (Vaishali).
Acting on a tip-off, police laid a trap at Hasanpur riverine where the gang reached with arms. “The informer said six to seven men would arrive in a small type hut situated in an open crop field between 10pm and 5am. All the members of the gang suspected to be armed”, said an official, adding that all the STF men wearing bullet proof jacket, laid an ambush around the hut.
IG (Operations) S M Khopde said the outlaws fired on police personnel when the latter raided their hideout. Their bodies have been sent to Hajipur Sadar hospital for autopsy.
He said police had specific information of Manish’s presence along with some other criminals. A team was constituted to nab them, but when the STF team reached the spot, criminals started firing on police party. The police retaliated in which three criminals were killed.
Additional director general of police (Headquarters), Kundan Krishnan, said that the criminals were members of Manish Singh gang involved in gold loot in Asansol, Barrackpore (West Bengal), Nagpur (Maharashtra) and Kota (Rajasthan). According to him, Manish was also wanted in five separate cases lodged against him in Vaishali police station area in connection with loot, murder, dacoity and arms act cases.
Khopde said that in the last three days, STF cops arrested four hardcore criminals from separate places. Recently a dreaded criminal Dihush who carried a reward of Rs 50,000 on his head was arrested by the STF. Other criminals include Mantu Yadav, who was arrested from Buxar, Raghunath Singh from Bhadaur police station of rural Patna and Maoist Sudhir Yadav from Khijjarsarai police station in Gaya.
Manish and his gang members looted almost 30-kg of gold and Rs 3 lakh in cash from Manappuram Gold Bank in Jaripatka locality of Nagpur on September 28, 2016. The total worth of the stolen booty was stated to be around Rs 9 crore.
He also involved in the loot of 26kg gold from Muthoot Finance in Mansarovar under Jaipur police station on July 21, 2017.
His name also figured in the loot of 12 kg gold from Kokoben police station area of West Bengal on September 9, 2018.
