The Supreme Court has agreed to hear a writ petition against the release of a biopic on Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The top court will hear the plea on Monday. The film follows PM Modi’s life from his humble beginning to his rise first as the Gujarat chief minister and then electoral victory in 2014 catapulting him as the prime minister. (PTI File)

Farmers in Punjab are continuing to commit suicide despite the debt-waiver scheme launched by chief minister Capt Amarinder Singh. Data from the district agriculture department reveals that 119 farmers committed suicide in Sangrur between April 2017 and March 2018. From April 2013 to date, 665 farmer suicides have been reported.
