He was in the news recently for posting a comment on Facebook about the ongoing agitation in Sabarimala. India successfully launched Microsat-R, a military satellite on board its Polar rocket PSLV C44, from the spaceport at Sriharikota, in Andhra Pradesh, in ISRO’s first mission for 2019. The fourth stage of the rocket had an experimental satellite Kalamsat, a students’ payload. Built at a cost of around ₹12 lakh, Kalamsat will study the communication system of nano satellites, which can be useful in disaster management. (ANI)

The CBI on Friday registered a fresh case against former Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda over alleged irregularities in land allotment and carried out raids at over 30 places in Delhi and the National Capital Region (NCR). A woman who in a fit of rage killed her husband after he called her a ‘prostitute’ has been absolved of murder charges by the Supreme Court. A bench of justices MM Shantanagoudar and Dinesh Maheshwari said that a husband calling his wife a prostitute would “amount to sudden and grave provocation” and fall under the exception clause of Section 300 of the Indian Penal Code, which is murder. Twenty people have died of swine flu in Punjab this year, almost double the 11 deaths reported in 2018, data with the state’s health department shows. The highest number of positive cases for the respiratory disease has been reported from Patiala and Ludhiana with 20 from each district. Tata Motors said that it could stop manufacturing and selling the Nano from April next year due to new safety and emissions rules that would require major investment. Tata launched the Nano, a compact four or five-door hatchback, with great fanfare in 2009 when its first edition went on the market for around a lakh.
