Updated On Nov 22, 2020 06:01 pm IST

The onset of winter, which usually takes place around mid-December, seems to be happening earlier this year due to the influence of back-to-back western disturbances. Northwest India recorded 220% excess rain in the week ending November 18 due to the influence of the western disturbance. Winter has arrived in many parts of northwest India with the minimum temperature dipping below 5 degrees Celsius below normal in several cities. Snowfall is likely to continue in the hills and temperatures are expected to fall further.
