Figures from the Union Health Ministry showed two milestones on November 21. First among these was that Covid-19 had claimed 9 million infections in an as yet unstoppable climb and second, that India’s efforts to track and contain the virus has resulted in over 130 million tests being conducted since the outbreak’s emergence. The most recent ten million among these were done in the last ten days. India’s hike in testing numbers comes as infection rates soar across the US and Europe and experts warn of possible surges locally.
