Photos | International Literacy Day: Educating first generation learners

Due to the coronavirus pandemic, schools in West Bengal haven’t reopened and students primarily depend on virtual learning and online education. But underprivileged students who cannot afford mobile phones with high speed internet struggle to follow the online system. Slowly, few NGOs have started organizing special classes where teachers engage in community based education and conventional, effective direct learning while maintaining Covid-19 safety protocols. On International Literacy Day, a look at these NGOs from West Bengal who are helping first generation learners mostly from underprivileged  families.
