Rain wreaks havoc in Uttarakhand, rescue operations underway

- At least 47 people are dead as heavy rainfall battered Uttarakhand for three consecutive days. Five deaths were reported on Monday and 42 on Tuesday, according to news agency PTI.

In view of the incessant rains, Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami chaired a review meeting in Haldwani, Nainital on Tuesday. While speaking to news agency ANI, Dhami said, "Held discussions over the loss of lives, property, road, rescue operation, resumption of roads; have instructed officials to clear the debris from landslide so as to resume road connectivity."(PTI)
