20 eucalyptus trees gutted in Kondhwa, Pune

A scrap godown located in Gokulnagar, on Katraj-Kondhwa road near Dominos Pizza, spread over 5,000 square feet was gutted in fire along with at least 20 eucalyptus trees in the surrounding on Friday.

According to fire brigade officials, two water tankers and three fire tenders from Kondhwa fire station were pressed into action.

Prashant Ranpise, fire brigade chief, Pune Municipal Corporation, said, “The control room received a call at 1 pm and the fire was bought under control within half an hour. Twenty eucalyptus trees were burnt in the incident. We have assessed the damage done to the trees and accordingly the concerned departments have been informed. The exact cause behind the fire is not known.”

Police sub-inspector Sagar Kale of Kondhwa police chowki along with his staff were present on the spot assisting the fire brigade personnel in the operation.
