Two men were arrested in a raid carried out by the city police on Friday evening at an escort service operational under the banner of a spa. The two were identified as Amol Khandu Jadhav (31), manager of the spa, and Dilu Guanbe Jibaho (21) of Nagaland, according to the police.

Five women of Thai nationality were rescued by the Social Security Cell and Anti-Human Trafficking Wing from an escort service which operated under the pretext of being a massage parlour.

Police constable Nitin Londhe received information on Friday about an escort service named Chiva in Pimple Saudagar. Base on the information, police inspector Sanjay Patil, Anti-Human Trafficking Wing of the Crime Branch, led the raid carried out by the Social Security Cell employees on Friday.

Of the five women, four are under the age of 26 years while one is around 30 years of age, according to the police. All the four women held verified passports, which are at the Sanghvi police station for investigation, said additional commissioner of police Sanjay Nikam. While four of them were in the country on business visa, one of them held a tourist visa, he added.

The men tricked the women into the high-end escort service by luring them with a job as a masseur and extra income, the police said.

“The women worked in massage parlours in Thailand as well. They have been in Pune for the past 3-4 months. They are in the age group of 23-35 years,” said police inspector Sanjay Patil. “The women will be produced in the court and undergo medical examination before the concerned embassy is contacted. The procedure to send them back will take around two months,” PI Patil added.

The women were sent to the rescue home in Mohammadwadi by the police. A case was registered against the two under Section 3, 4, 5 of Immoral Human Trafficking Act, 1956.
