Sharad Jawadekar, national convenor of the Akhil Bharatiya Samajwadi Adhyapak Sabha said, “Child education has become a business in India and this resolution has openly supported it. This will certainly increase the financial pressure on parents. Rather than giving a free hand to private preschools we government run preschools should have modern facilities and be free.”
According to the government resolution, a web portal will be set up through corporate social responsibility activities and private institutions will have to feed details of students like the admission number. Information about teachers are also to be filled. A separate system will also be introduced to keep a check on the quality of the education. Also, training will also be given to the teachers and helpers in the schools.
Amita Mhaske whose 4-year-old daughter is admitted in a private playschool said, “Currently we are paying ₹30,000 annual fees and if there will be no control over the fees then it would be difficult for us to pay the fees.”
Vinay Puranik who has a 3-year-old son said, “I have started looking for a preschool for my son. I have enquired in many private preschools and I find the fees to be high. Now, if the government is giving them a free hand to decide the fees, it would be a financial burden.”
