Kidnapped Pune boy rescued within three days; no arrest yet

Om Kharat, the seven-year-old child who was kidnapped three days ago, was found safe on Monday evening. The boy was found in the godown near his house and did not have any apparent physical injury, according to the police.
The boy’s father, Sandeep Kharat, thanked the police department and Rashmi Shukla, police commissioner, for bringing the child home in three days. A local businessman, Kharat had received three calls from the kidnappers, according to senior police inspector Vijaykumar Pulsale of Nigdi police station. In the third communication, the kidnappers had asked for ₹60 lakh in ransom for his life, he added.
“The boy had not eaten for the past three days. We are happy to inform you that not even a single penny was paid to the kidnappers. We have not arrested them yet and we will provide further information later,” said commissioner Shukla.
Besides commissioner Shukla, Ravindra Kadam, additional commissioner of police; Pankaj Dahane, deputy commissioner (DCP) (crime) and Ganesh Shinde, DCP Zone 3, were present at the press conference held at Kerala Bhavan at 10 pm on Monday night.
