New PCMC police commissionerate to have 10 stations in Pune city, 5 from rural

The state home department has issued a formal gazette notification regarding setting up of a new commissionerate for the industrial township of Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation. The notification signed by Kailash Gaikwad, deputy secretary, home department states that new commissionerate will be formed by merging some areas of the city police commissionerate with some under rural police.
The notification states that a total of 4,840 posts have been sanctioned by the state government for the PCMC commissionerate. As per the instructions of the chief secretary, out of the 2,633 posts, a total of 1,568 posts will be filled in the first phase, 552 in second phase and 513 will be filled in the third phase.A total of 2,207 personnel will be added to the new commissionerate on an immediate basis.
The new commissioner for the PCMC commissionerate will be of the rank of additional director general of police and will report of the director general of police, Maharashtra state. A total of ₹ 393 crore have been approved for creating new posts, recurring expenditure, establishment costs and for providing houses for personnel posted at the new commissionerate. The notification also stated that the expenditure required for running the new commissionerate from a temporary place has also been sanctioned. The home department will announce the inaugural date of the new commissionerate independently. The notification also stated that all administrative decisions have been taken by the council of ministers in consultation with the ministry of finance.
