Pune customers can now get their faulty electricity bills corrected online

With consumers irked over incorrect electricity bills, Maharashtra state electricity distribution company limited (MSEDCL) has started a process of online bill correction for subscribers’ convenience.
MSEDCL Pune spokesperson said, “It has been observed that incorrect power bills has been causing a lot of inconvenience to consumers. To rectify the energy bills, the consumer has to visit the nearest office for resolving their complaint. Considering the difficulties faced by consumers, MSEDCL chairman and managing director Sanjeev Kumar has instructed officers to make the process easy and online.”
He added that as per the directives, the process of correction of consumer’s energy bills has been made online, so that it becomes easier for consumers to correct their energy bills. Also consumers can lodge a complaint at any of the office of MSEDCL in the state which will be resolved within the stipulated time. Consumers will also receive SMS update about the progress of the process.
“In this process, consumers will be able to make complaints regarding energy bills, through written application or through mobile app, email and twitter etc., to any office of the MSEDCL. An employee would be given the responsibility of resolving these grievances and instructions have been given to resolve it within nine days after receiving the complaint. After initial study, if it is found that the bill does not require any correction, the consumers will receive an SMS about it and will be requested to pay the energy bill immediately. However, if the consumer’s energy bills need any correction then it will be forwarded to the section office of MSEDCL for correction. In cases where the spot inspection is required, such complaints will be assigned to section officer,” said officials from MSEDCL.
They added that as soon as final bill revision is approved auto generated SMS will be sent on the registered mobile number. The consumer can pay the bill by showing the SMS to the office.
