Pune man booked for sexual assault of woman

The complaint in the matter was filed by the 23-year-old woman who was assaulted.

A 23-year-old man was booked for sexual assault of a woman in Katraj. The man was identified as Akash Daulat Hedge, a resident of Dhankawadi. The police are on the lookout for Hegde.

The complaint in the matter was filed by the 23-year-old woman who was assaulted. She submitted in her complaint that the incident happened in the early hours of Friday. She claimed that Hedge hurt her by placing the hot blade of a knife on her neck. She sustained burn marks from the incident. She told the police that he threatened to kill her child if she resisted his advances.

The man forced his way inside the woman's rented house in Katraj at around 1-1.30am on Friday morning. He heated the knife in her kitchen on a stove and burnt the woman while threatening to kill the son. He then proceeded to sexually assault her, according to the police.

Hedge, according to her, is known to the complainant and is on the run. A case under Section 376 and other relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) have been registered against Hedge at Bharati Vidyapeeth police station.
