The management authorities of Sinhgad Technical Education Society (STES) has said that only 50% salaries of its staff are due.
STES principals and directors in a statement released on Sunday said that Institute is working on to pay the due salaries at the earliest.
“It is not true that salaries have not been paid from past 14 months. Pending payment of salaries is about 50 to 60 percent, rest have been paid.
“Needful is being done on a war footing to pay the due salaries at the earliest. Hence, the faculties are requested to fulfil their duties diligently and ensure that students do not suffer any academic loss,” the statement said.
Further talking about the dues paid by theGovernment of Maharashtra and Social Welfare Department, the circular said,“The statements that appear from time to time conveying that about 80 percent of dues paid by Government of Maharashtra and Social Welfare Department against dues for the year 2017-18 is not true. An amount of Rs.117.57 crores for the academic year 2017-18 is pending and no amount has been received as of now.”
Earlier in a circular, Maruti Navale, founder of STES, had pointed out the delayed grant of Rs 138 crore from the Social Welfare Department towards scholarship reimbursements and non-receipt of fees from students, are one of the major reasons for the lag in salary payments of the teachers.
STES is currently grappling with financial problems, leading to non-payment of salaries of staff, who are protesting against the move.
