Two arrested in Pune for duping man by selling soap instead of US currency

Two persons were arrested for duping a man from Pune for Rs 5 lakh under the pretext of providing American currency. The two were identified as Kishore Kumar Chandradas Vaishnav, 26, and Rahul alias Sunil Singh Channulal Valmiki, 28, both residents of Lakshmi Residency Society located along BT Kawade Road, Mundhwa, according to the police.
According to the complaint, the duo took Rs 5 lakh from the victim with the promise to deliver US dollars (USD) in exchange but the plastic bag given by the former contained soap bars wrapped in newspapers.
The complaint was filed by Sunny Agarwal, a resident of Vimannagar, and owner of a general store in the area. Agarwal gave the money to the two near Vaibhav Talkies in Hadapsar. “One woman who helped the two in the crime is on the run," said Pankaj Dahane, deputy commissioner of police, crime.
The complainant came in contact with the two as Valmiki worked in an agency that provided Parachute hair oil to Agarwal's shop, according to DCP Dahane.
A case under Sections 406 (criminal breach of trust), 420 (cheating) and 34 (common intention) of Indian Penal Code (IPC) was registered against the three at Hadapsar police station. The two men were arrested by police inspector Brahmanand Naikwadi of anti-organised crime cell (AOCC) during patrolling on Wednesday night. The two were handed over to Hadapsar police after the complainant's money was recovered from Vaishnav's house.
