AAP protests displacement of people from leased land

The AAP workers also claimed that a committee to pursue the issue with the administration by the name of Ghar Bachao Sangharsh Committee had been formed and a memorandum on their demands had been handed over to deputy commissioner Indu Malhotra.

AAP convener Jarnail Singh Manu said, "The recent decision of a local court regarding the evacuation of land given on lease has created panic among lakhs of people, who have been residing on these plots for decades. Many residents are not even aware of who was the original claimant to the land as such a decision was taken by their forefathers.

"It would be unfair with the affected people as many of them do not even have enough money to resettle at some other place," he said.

He added that the government must step in and take legal advice over the matter to save the future of lakhs of residents.
