Mandeep, a 1991-batch IAS officer, retired on May 31 2015, held charge of secretary, forest and wildlife department, and was also commissioner of Gurdwara elections, Punjab, before he retired. He was also posted as the state transport director.

The bureau had initiated investigations in January 2014. As per the vigilance, the family owns over 150 acres in Chamkaur Sahib but Man deep Singh himself does not own any property and all these properties are in the name of his wife and son including two residential properties in Chandigarh’s Sector 8 and Sector 34, as well as a hotel near Chandigarh.

Mandeep is also facing a CBI probe for his alleged role in the infamous panchayat secretaries’ recruitment scam when he was posted as the director, rural development and panchayats.
