Chief minister Parkash Singh Badal has denounced the central government's proposal of levying 12.36% tax on all foreign remittances to India and urged the centre for not implementing the same.

While talking to media persons at a function in Jalandhar, Badal said that people in Punjab heavily depend on payments from non resident indians (NRI) and it is not good to impose tax on foreign remittances.

On allegations by Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee (PPCC) of humiliating singer turned MLA Mohammad Sadique, Badal said Congress should provide training to its MLAs for what to do and what not do in the assembly.

On allegations by Manpreet Singh Badal, president of People's Party of Punjab (PPP), that Jatinder Jain inspector general of police (Intelligence) was on SAD's instructions victimising PPP workers, Badal said that people after losing the elections resort to such statements.

On Congress party's demand that parliamentary forces be deployed during the Dasuya by-poll, he said state government was committed to hold free and fair elections.
