"He was seeking party ticket from Sangrur Lok Sabha constituency, which was not possible due to alliance norms. That is the only reason he revolted and raised baseless issues against the party in media," PPP spokesperson Navjot Dahia stated in a press release issued on Saturday.

"Bagwant Mann himself had advocated alliance with the Congress for Dasuya bye-elections and even for Moga bye-poll. He had canvassed for PPP-supported Congress candidates during Zila Parished elections. As a PPP leader, he never came out for party activities after elections and never held any meeting with the party's youth wing despite being its in-charge. He was always running away from hard work and many times, there were proposals to remove him," the spokesperson said and added that all the allegations made by Bagwant Mann are "baseless and false--having no truth."

Bhagwant Mann had stated on Friday that Aaam Aadmi Party (AAP) wanted Manpreet Badal to head its Punjab unit and the party was offering 7 to 8 seats to PPP. He had alleged that Manpreet has aligned with the Congress to safeguard his political future.

"Bhagwant Maan himself was in favour of PPP's merger with AAP and advocated the idea in the party meeting but not even a single member was convinced. The party which was raised with so much hard work and sacrifices cannot lose its existence," Dahia said.

The PPP leadership of Punjab and all central committee members have given their total support to the alliance with the Congress and refused to go in for merger with AAP due to the latter's arrogant attitude, he added.
