The protesters blocked the national highway near Basti Jodhewal for nearly an hour that witnessed a heavy traffic jam.

Police booked secretary of Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee Almuddin Saifi in the connection of abetment to suicide only after member of minority commission of Punjab Bablu Qureshi went on a hunger strike three days back. However, the accused was not yet arrested.

Meanwhile, Qureshi alleged that the accused was roaming freely at the offices of senior police officials, but police were not taking any action against him.

The protest was called off only when senior SAD leader Ashwani Passi assured the protesters about the arrest of accused Congress leader.
