The bridges at Haibowal and Pavitar Nagar greet commuters with a nauseating smell as indiscriminate dumping of garbage in and around it remains unchecked. Though residents have made repeated appeals to authorities concerned, no significant efforts have been made so far to address the same.
Residents claimed the garbage dump problem is very major problem in the area from past several years and residents expressed that concern authorities have not taken any action to resolve this garbage dump problem as authorities are least bothered about this area.
Due to garbage dumps long traffic snarls take place in the area as residents told that during afternoon many school buses use to cross this way as most of the workers use to throw the garbage at afternoon which residents and people have to suffer a lot.
Commuters expressed that they have to choose alternative way to reach their destination as foul smell come from the dump and traffic dump do not allow them to cross from this way. Residents told that they have given several complaints to concern department regarding this problem but no action has taken till now.
Dinesh Kumar area resident said that several people infected with health problems due to the dump situated near the bridge as people met with skin problems as many mosquitoes and insectes come due to the dumps. Moreover stray dogs also use to come near the dump which is also an another problem fo rthe residents.
Residents also told that A to Z company not lift the garbage near the bridge on time, many times they do not come as They have also complained regarding this problem many times.
Moreover, shopkeepers also told that there business also falling in loss as people do not use to come due to the garbage dump situated near their bridge. Owner of dhaba near the bridge told that no one come to my dhaba as this place do not seems hygienic, authorities should take step so that people would not suffer longer.
Residents of Pavitar Nagar told that they are forced to cross the bridge as the dump is situated on the bridge which one cannot cross with foul smell all around. Safai workers come very rare to clean the area if they come, they come in odd hours. Authroties should take required step to correct the problems of the area.
Some of he residents told hat they have protested few months back regarding this issue but authorities have no interest to resolve the problems of the residents. They also told that these garbage dumps have make the areas scene very bad.
