Union minister of food processing Harsimrat Kaur Badal on Sunday demanded the files related to attack on Golden Temple during the Operation Bluestar be made public.
This comes close on the heels of BJP leader Subramanian Swamy terming the 1984 Operation Bluestar “foolishness on the part of then prime minister Indira Gandhi”, and demanding declassification of its files “to bring out the truth behind allowing army into the Golden Temple in Amritsar”.
Harsimrat, after distributing grants to panchayats during ‘sangat darshan’ programme at Buladhewala and Burj Mehma villages, said the files related to the events and direction issued, which led to tanks and cannons being used in precincts of the Sikh holy place, be made public so that people know the truth behind this episode.
The Union food processing minister said the “roles of Congress leaders Jagdish Tytler and Sajjan Kumar should be re-investigated” in the entire episode on the basis of “facts that were concealed”.
On the status of Punjab’s economy, she said the state’s financial condition is strong and condemned the “misleading” campaign launched by the opposition in this regard.
About a new affidavit filed by the Arvind Kejriwal-led Delhi government in the Supreme Court pertaining to SYL canal issue, she said the “dual politics” of AAP in the election year has been exposed. She added the “flip-flop” in the statements of AAP over the issue proves the party leadership says different things at different times.
