Haryana to set up Swadhar Grah for women in distress

Haryana chief minister Manohar Lal Khattar has approved the Swadhar Greh scheme with an aim to create supportive institutional framework for women victims of difficult circumstances so that they could lead their life with dignity.

Haryana women and child development minister Kavita Jain said on Sunday that the scheme envisaged shelter, food, clothing, health as well as economic and social security for women in distress. She said Swadhar Greh would be set up in every district to cater to the primary need of shelter, food, clothing, medical treatment and care of the women in distress and who are without any social and economic support.

She said for big cities, more than one Swadhar Greh would be established with their capacity to accommodate 50 to 100 women on the basis of need assessment and other parameters.
