Labourer buried alive at Moga village

A 38-year-old labourer of Karahewala village under Fatehgarh Panjtoor police station was buried alive when earth caved in while he was drilling a bore-well in the village on Tuesday evening.

A 38-year-old labourer of Karahewala village under Fatehgarh Panjtoor police station was buried alive when earth caved in while he was drilling a bore-well in the village on Tuesday evening.

According to information, Sukhdev Singh was drilling a bore-well in the fields of farmer Jaskaran Singh when earth suddenly caved in.

After the residents of the village informed deputy commissioner Arshdeep Singh Thind, naib tehsildar Gurmeet Singh, accompanied by a rescue team, reached the spot. After over six hours, the team extricated the body from under the debris.

ASI Virsa Singh said that after the post-mortem the body was handed over to the family.

"On the statement of deceased's son Balwinder Singh, a case has been registered under section 174 of the CrPC. We are waiting for the report of the post-mortem that was conducted at the civil hospital," he added.
