A 22-year-old labourer was found hanging under mysterious circumstances in his rented accommodation in Ram Nagar area on the Tibba Road on Tuesday.
A 22-year-old labourer was found hanging under mysterious circumstances in his rented accommodation in Ram Nagar area on the Tibba Road on Tuesday.
The deceased, Vijay Kumar, hailed from Bihar, and lived with his relatives here.
Police said his hands were tied behind him with a wire and the body was hanging from a hook. Suspecting murder, the police sent the body to Lord Mahavira Civil Hospital for autopsy.
The police have kept the matter pending and are waiting for the autopsy report to file a case.
According to the kin of the deceased, Kumar celebrated Holi with his friends and they consumed liquor till late night on Monday. Later, on Tuesday morning, they found Kumar hanging and sounded the police.
Sub-inspector Narinder Singh, incharge at Tibba Road police post, said the investigation was on and police were waiting for the autopsy report before registering a case. He added that they were questioning Kumar's friends with whom he had drinks on Monday.
