Ludhiana ASI transferred after video seeking bribe goes viral

The video of an assistant sub-inspector (ASI) asking for a bribe has gone viral. Police commissioner RN Dhoke has transferred the woman ASI, Kuldeep Kaur, to Police Lines and a departmental inquiry was marked against her.
The ASI was asking for Rs 10,000 for submitting a chargesheet in a case of assault. The video was reportedly recorded by the complainant, Kuldeep Verma of Tajpur Road, who is a realtor.
Verma stated that he and his friends were assaulted by a group of locals in February. A case was registered against the accused, who managed to falsely implicate him in a case of forgery that was cancelled after an inquiry.
Verma added that he approached the ASI to submit a chargesheet in the court, but she asked for a bribe.
“I gave her Rs 10,000 for it, but she was demanding more money. So, I made a video of her in the first week of October and posted it on social networking sites,” he further said.
Jamalpur station house officer (SHO) Avtar Singh said Kuldeep was transferred to Police Lines on Monday. An inquiry was marked against her. Senior officers will take further action after the inquiry.
