Ludhiana:Man booked for posting woman’s photo on FB with lewd comments

Police said the accused stole the picture of the woman, his ex-lover, from her WhatsApp.

A man was booked for allegedly posting a woman’s picture on a social networking site with lewd comments using a fake ID in Ludhiana. The accused has been identified as Deepak Arora of Kailash Nagar.

Police said the accused stole the picture of the woman, his ex-lover, from her WhatsApp and posted it on the Facebook with lewd comments.

The complainant, who has separated from her husband, told the police that she was in a relationship with accused , however, later she parted ways with him, following which Arora started defaming her.

In her complaint, the 40-year-old woman said she came to know about the incident in August 2017, when her relatives told her about the pictures.

“I was shocked to see the comments posted with my picture,” she said, and added that the accused had also mentioned her mobile number in the post.

Police said the accused has made a fake account as Sanjiv Kumar on Facebook. Later, the accused had created another fake account as Cheema Dhaliwal and posted her picture on it too. The woman made a complaint to the commissioner of police on August 22, 2017, following which he marked an inquiry to cyber cell.

Inspector Birbal Singh, who is investigating the case, said the police traced the phone number from which the accounts were being operated and found that Deepak Arora of Kailash Nagar was operating it.

Singh said the accused has been booked under Section 66C and 66D of the Information Technology Act and Section 6 in the Indecent Representation of Women (Prohibition) Act. Meanwhile, the police have launched a manhunt to nab the accused.
