Mand was produced in the court of chief judicial magistrate (CJM) PS Rai following the expiry of his one-day police remand. The order came in the case registered by the police following a complaint lodged by the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) against Mand and others after they created a ruckus in the Golden Temple complex on Diwali day and tried to interrupt the ‘sandesh’ (message) of Akal Takht jathedar Giani Gurbachan Singh.

The police made no attempt to oppose the order of the judge nor did it demand extension of the police remand.

The city police had taken Mand’s custody from the Amritsar rural police on Monday in connection with the case registered at the City Kotwali police station. The rural police had booked Mand and others in a sedition case on the basis of the speeches they gave at the November 10 Sarbat Khalsa held at Chabba village.
