The 1,500-MW Nathpa Jhakri hydroelectric power station, a flagship project of the Satluj Jal Vidyut Nigam (SJVN), has been selected for the silver shield for 2012-13 and the bronze shield for 2011-12 by the Central Electricity Authority in the category of 'performance of hydro power stations'.

The awards will be presented by minister of state for power Jyotiraditya Scindia at Vigyan Bhavan in New Delhi on February 4.
In 2010-11, the project had been awarded the gold shield by the union ministry of power. The Himachal Pradesh-based power station has been supplying power to the northern grid states of Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, Punjab, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand and Delhi, besides Chandigarh.
The ministry had instituted the Comprehensive Award Scheme in 2004-05 for recognising meritorious performance in the power sector.
