Newborn girl found abandoned in Chandigarh’s Sector-23 park

Sub-inspector Kuldeep Singh of the Sector-22 police post said: “The girl was found around 1pm. Her condition is fine and we are trying to trace her parents.”

The UT police on Sunday rescued a newborn girl who had been abandoned in a park in Sector 23. The girl who is a day old, was rushed to the Government Multi Specialty Hospital (GMSH), Sector 16, where her health is being monitored.

A case under Section 318 (concealment of birth by secret disposal of body) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) has been registered at the Sector-22 police station. Cops are quizzing people and scanning closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras to get clues. On June 23, a newborn girl’s body was found near a farm house in Khuda Lahora.
