NGO members submitted a memorandum to Municipal Commissioner Dharampal Gupta, while a presentation was also given to other MC authorities in this regard.
Deepak Babbar, President, Mission Aaagaaz, said that in response to information sought from the MC under the RTI Act, the civic body authorities had said that no meeting had been held with residents, local committees and NGOs in connection with solid waste management for the past 12 years.
"The Municipal Commissioner was apprised of PPCB rules, according to which MC authorities are supposed to hold meetings with residents, local committees, NGOs at least once in three months, but this has not happened for the past 12 years," he said.
However, Municipal Commissioner Dharampal Gupta said that all possible efforts were being made to keep the city clean and green.
"I have called the meeting to hold discussion with these NGOs and to initiate and regularise the process of holding meetings with residents, NGOs and local committees. The process would be started soon," he said.
