The arrangements being made for mela were reviewed by authorities on Thursday. Paramjit Singh, director, regional station, said that the theme of the mela is 'adopt diversification, save nature'. He said that seeds of improved varieties of different kharif crops as well as fruit plants, recommended by the PAU, will be sold on this occasion.

The seed of the new variety of rice, PR 124, will also be distributed on this occasion. Baldev Singh Dhillon, vice-chancellor, Punjab Agricultural University, Ludhiana, will preside over the function. Subject matter specialists of PAU will share research findings with farmers during the mela. Farm women will be provided technical knowhow with respect to household activities as well.
