Dr Ankit and Dr Priyanka were suspended after late night protests by the family members of Rajesh, who had been brought in with injuries from a road accident.

Rajesh’s family alleged that he died because doctors in the hospital’s emergency ward did not treat him properly. They said none of the senior doctors was present in the ward, while the junior doctors failed to control the bleeding in his leg, causing his death.

The deceased’s family even alleged that Dr Ankit, a junior medic, who was managing the emergency ward identified himself as the casualty medical officer.

Dr Ankit could not be reached for comments.

PGIMS vice-chancellor Dr VK Jain said, “A probe has been ordered, but the two doctors have been suspended (until then)”.

The hospital authorities have formed a committee to conduct the probe.
