The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leaders in Punjab on Tuesday welcomed the appointment of Delhi’s deputy chief minister Manish Sisodia as in-charge of party affairs in the state.
In a joint statement, state unit president Bhagwant Mann, co-president Aman Arora, leader of opposition Sukhpal Khaira and other party leaders thanked AAP convener and Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal for it.
“The appointment of hardworking and experienced leader like Sisodia will help boost the morale of party workers in the state. His vision will be implemented in the state to reach the people from all walks of the society,” they said.
The statement was signed by Faridkot MP Sadhu Singh, deputy leader of opposition Sarbjit Kaur Manuke, HS Phoolka, Baljinder Kaur and other party legislators and office-bearers of the state unit. Lok Insaaf Party chief and MLA Simarjeet Bains also congratulated Sisodia for his appointment. “Let’s work together to fight against corrupt system,” he tweeted.
LIP is an alliance partner of the AAP in the state. The post was lying vacant since Sanjay Singh resigned as Punjab unit in-charge in April after the party’s performance in the state assembly fell well short of its expectations. The state unit leaders had blamed flawed strategy.
