Jarman Singh also got the girl medically examined at the Ghoman community health centre. Injury marks on different parts of the girl's body were visible in the wake of corporal punishment meted out to her by the teacher.

When contacted, district education officer (primary) Joginder Kaur maintained that no teacher could hand out physical punishment to students. She said that she had sent a two-member team to the school to inquire into the matter and added that stringent action would be initiated if the teacher was found guilty.

Meanwhile, the accused teacher Tarlok Singh denied beating up the girl, claiming that her parents were trying to defame him by leveling false charge.
