Alleging that the state government has failed to provide security to temples of local deities, Vishva Hindu Parishad (VHP) state organising secretary, Manoj Joshi has said that the VHP will now take steps to ensure safety of these temples and welfare of 'kardars' who serve local deities.
"VHP has decided that the state-level association of kardars will be formed under the banner of Kardar Sangh. Such a body is called for as kardars serve the local deities for the whole year and they are responsible for the safety of the temples and the valuables belonging to the local deity" said Joshi while addressing media persons here on Monday.
He added that formation of the Sangh will provide a joint platform for the kardars to discuss the matter of security of the temples as well as to raise their grievances also.
He said that VHP will provide close-circuit TV cameras and temples will be put under insurance security covers.
Joshi also denounced the state government's decision to start Urdu language classes in government schools. "If the government introduces Urdu classes, it should also start teaching Bhagwad Gita in the schools," he added.
The VHP, he said, will launch a statewide protest against the state and the central governments to "raise the voice of poor people belonging to Hindu religion, and right to employment, health, shelter, education and food."
