On Monday, the victim, Satpal, 30, of Bishanpura village in Abohar subdivision of Fazilka district, was found dead inside his house at Bihanpura village under mysterious circumstances. His son, Parveen (10), told the police that a relative, Bhojraj, had come into the house on Sunday night. The relative was gone in the morning when Parveen's father was found dead.

Nirmala, Satpal's wife, after a fight with her husband, had moved into her parents' house a month ago. Bhojraj would visit her and bring her cash and expensive gifts such as cell phone, the boy's statement has suggested.

Varinder Singh Brar, superintendent of police at Abohar, said investigation had revealed that Nirmala and her brother-in-law, Bhojraj, had illicit relations and Satpal had come to know about it. "The woman, along with Bhojraj and Mohmmad Ali, an friend of Bhojraj, hatched a plan to kill Satpal and they executed it on Sunday midnight," said the SP. All three suspects are on the run.

Bhojraj's family claimed his body after autopsy.
