Jayam Ravi’s upcoming film with director Ahmed is not a remake of Baby.

Director Ahmed is best known for directing romantic comedy Endrendrum Punnagai and courtroom drama Manithan, the remake of Jolly LLB. While the former was a runaway hit, the latter did decent business but both the films earned the filmmaker good overall response from audiences. Not long ago, reports emerged that Ahmed would be teaming up with Jayam Ravi for a spy thriller and that the project will go on the floors after he wraps up Sundar C’s magnum opus Sanghamitra. Over the weekend, rumours made the rounds that this project could be a remake of Akshay Kumar’s Baby.

However, Ahmed has denied the reports while talking to Times of India. “Not at all. My film with Ravi will be based on an original script. I’m currently working on the script and we will start shooting once it is firmed up.” The project was supposed to roll from September 2017, but got pushed due to Tik Tik Tik and Sanghamitra. Amid rumours that Sanghamithra has been shelved, Ravi may start shooting for Ahmed’s project from April or May.

Ravi will also reunite with his brother Mohan Raja for his 25th film this year. The duo had previously worked together in the smash hit Thani Oruvan. Meanwhile, Ravi has bet big on Tik Tik Tik, in which he plays an escape artist who is sent on a space mission. The film was supposed to be released on Republic Day, but got pushed due to reasons yet unknown.
