Mani Ratnam and AR Rahman’s magic is evident in Kaatru Veliyidai trailer but it’s hard to figure out what the story is about.

The perfect culmination of beautiful frames, AR Rahman’s music and romance makes the trailer of Mani Ratnam’s Kaatru Veliyidai truly magical, but you can’t infer much about the film or even what to expect. Unlike many recent trailers, including that of Dangal and Naam Shabana, the trailer of Kaatru Veliyidai doesn’t give away anything which is a good thing. Unfortunately, you can’t make anything of it and that might not encourage everybody to wait with bated breath for the film.

The trailer introduces us to Karthi and Aditi Rao Hydari, and it’s very evident that he is trying to sweep her off her feet. He is a fighter pilot; she is a doctor. There are shots of locales you wouldn’t even have imagined seeing in a Tamil film. There are shots that prove that there’s more than just romance and that people shouldn’t confuse Kaatru Veliyidai as another Ratnam’s romantic drama.

It’s said to be an intense film and features some action too. Dubbed in Telugu as Cheliya, the film will have a simultaneous release on April 7. Produced by Sri Thenandal Films, the film also stars RJ Balaji, Shraddha Srinath and Rukmini Vijayakumar.
