Nishabdam teaser: Anushka Shetty and R Madhavan are prime suspects in this whodunit

The first teaser for Anushka Shetty and R Madhavan’s Nishabdam is out and it builds suspense without using a single spoken word.

The teaser of R. Madhavan starrer upcoming multi-lingual thriller Nishabdam was unveiled on Wednesday on the eve of Anushka Shetty’s birthday. The visuals promise a solid whodunit in which everyone’s a suspect.

The teaser opens with shots of Anushka and Madhavan going on a holiday. We see them enter a house that’s isolated from the city. Cut to next shot, we see Anushka lying in a hospital bed, slightly bruised and explaining something in sign language. It’s evident that he she plays a mute person in the film.

 

This is followed by shots that introduce other key characters of the film. From Michael Madsen to Anjali to Subbaraju, the teaser gives us a glimpse at their characters. We also get investigation scenes and we follow police personnel on the lookout for something.

At one point, the teaser hints that every single one of the characters could be a suspect. What really sets the teaser apart is that it doesn’t feature a single dialogue and yet it manages to build suspense purely by striking visuals and sound.

Originally shot in Tamil and Telugu, the film will be released in Hindi, Malayalam and Kannada. If everything goes as planned, the film will hit the screens early next year.

Anushka, who plays a mute artist in the film, is believed to have shed a lot of weight for her character. In March, when her new pictures in a more fit avatar got shared online, fans couldn’t stop going gaga over new look.

Directed by Hemant Madhukar, Nishabdam has been entirely shot in Seattle. It has been produced by Kona Venkat and features Anjali in the role of a crime agent in SAPD. Meanwhile, Anushka may reunite with filmmaker Gautham Vasudev Menon for Vinnaithaandi Varuvaayaa 2, a sequel to his hit 2010 romantic drama Vinnaithaandi Varuvaayaa.
