Kamal Haasan’s Vishwaroopam 2 trailer promises not only sharp action scenes but an intriguing tale as well. The film picks up from where Haasan’s character Wisam Ahmed Kashmiri left off in Vishwaroopam – he is hot on the trail of al Qaeda terrorist Omar (Rahul Bose), the man who established sleeper cells in the USA.

The trailer begins with a throwback to Vishwaroopam where we see Haasan as a Tamil jihadi who gained access to al Qaeda. He also shares his plans to send children, who were once associated with terrorists, to school and college respectively.

As the film brings up collateral damage, we are bombarded by visuals of civilians getting hurt. It appears that instead of showing only the hero vs villain fight, the film aims to showcase the cost of war and an emphasis on protecting the innocent. Dialogues like, “It is not a sin to belong to any religion, but it is wrong if one were to betray their country,” also signifies that there is going to be a religious conflict in the film.

While the plot itself is interesting, the action scenes are unbelievable. The underwater stunt sequence looks surreal but the action scene using a chair as a prop and the car crash scene looks unrealistic.

Pooja Kumar reprises her role as Wisam’s wife in Vishwaroopam 2, with scenes showing how their relationship develops in the film. Bose, Shekhar Kapur and Andrea Jeremiah also return in the film.

The film written, produced and directed by Kamal Haasan is set to release on August 10 and the trailer was simultaneously released in Hindi, Telugu and Tamil. Shruti Haasan, who released the Tamil trailer, wrote, “Honoured to release the brand new trailer of vishwaroopam II - exciting, action packed and layered !!! Hope you love it too wishing @ikamalhaasan and the entire team love light and all the best.
