CALGARY: India had a double delight at the Canada Open as B Sai Praneeth and the doubles pair of Manu Attri and B Sumeeth Reddy grabbed their respective titles on Sunday.
Fourth seeded Praneeth outclassed South Korea’s Lee Hyun 21-12, 21-10 in just 28 minutes in the men’s singles final. The Rio Olympics bound pair of Manu and Sumeeth dispatched the local pair Adrian Liu and Toby Ng 21-8, 21-14 in the doubles final.
WOMEN’S RELAY TEAM SETS NATIONAL RECORD
NEW DELHI: The Indian 4x100m women’s relay team created a new national record at the Kazakhstan National Athletics Championships, clocking 43.42sec in Almaty on Monday. The 4x100m relay quartet, comprising of Dutee Chand, Srabani Nanda, H M Jyothi and Merlin Joseph bettered their earlier national record of 44.03sec, which was created in the IAAF World Challenge in May.
ZAMBROTTA IS DELHI DYNAMOS’ COACH
NEW DELHI: Indian Super League team Delhi Dynamos will unveil Italian World Cup winner Gianluca Zambrotta as their new manager for the third season of the league this year. The 39-year-old former defender, who was part of Italy’s 2006 World Cup winning team, will replace another World Cup winner, Roberto Carlos of Brazil at the helm of affairs.

MUMBAI: Bhagyashree Dalvi powered Maharashtra to a thumping 8-0 victory against Chhattisgarh in their opening group match of the AIFF National Junior Women’s Football Championship at Cuttack, Odisha on Monday. Bhagyashree star red with five goals and also had a hand in the other three goals as Maharashtra totally dominated the proceedings and completely outplayed their opponents. Maharashtra’s next match is against Manipur on Thursday.
