The Uruguayan and Peruvian combine slammed six aces and saved all six break points they faced in their one hour and 52 minutes win over Bhupathi and Knowles in the Red Group.

Bhupathi and Knowles defeated Jeff Coetzee and Wesley Moodie in their first round robin match, but lost to the Bryan brothers, Bob and Mike, in the second match.

Cuevas and Hornam , however, began with straight sets defeat by Bryan brothers but overcame a stout defence from Coetzee and Moodie Tuesday for their first win in the group.

Bhupathi and Knowles have now dropped to 37-19 in the season, which includes a 3-4 record in finals.

Leander Paes and Lukas Dlouhy , too, are out of the tournament after losing two matches.
