Harmanpreet Singh and Akashdeep Singh were among the goal-scorers as India recorded a big 3-1 win over arch-rivals Pakistan in the Asian Champion's Trophy clash on Friday in Dhaka. Pakistan looked threatening in the closing minutes but India walked away with full points to consolidate their position at the top of the table. Harmanpreet opened the scoring, allowing India to head into the half-time with a 1-0 lead over Pakistan. Akashdeep doubled the lead, scoring minutes into the third quarter before Pakistan managed to pull things back with a goal. Harmanpreet slotted one again towards the end to make it 3-1 in the final quarter of the all-important match.

Pakistan posed a threat towards the end but Harmanpreet's second goal sealed things for India, who are not at the top of the points table with two wins and a draw. Harmanpreet and Akashdeep were brilliant today, and so was Varun Kumar in the defence. Shilanand Lakra also put up an impressive performance.

Akashdeep makes extends India's lead! Lakra came up with a brilliant run before it fell to Sumit. He passed it to Akashdeep to make it 2-0. Pakistan were defending with a player less as Hammadudin got a green card, keeping him out for a couple of minutes.

Start of the third quarter and India were almost there to make it 2-0. Samsher Singh penetrated into the circle. The Pakistan skipper came up with a tackle but India, however, were denied a penalty corner.

"We were unlucky with the umpire's decision. It should not happen in a match like this," he said on the penalty corner decision during half-time.
End of first half
India still lead 1-0! Shilanand Lakra tried to enter the circle but a Mubashir Ali tackle broke the run. Brilliant defending from Pakistan. India got more chances but fail to convert them. Rajkumar Pal's shot was saved and Dilpreet hit it wide of the post.
India down to 10 men again
Another card for India as Nilam Sanjeep has been handed a two-minute suspension. India are down to 10 men for the second time in the contest.
Pakistan searching for chances
India haven't let Pakistan have any scoring opportunities or PCs so far. India have kept the possession and built the pressure but Pakistan are still looking to break the shackles. A brilliant run by Afraz down the left flank but the youngster fails to convert it.

First quarter comes to an end! Credit to Harmanpreet, who has put India in the lead. Not a lot of chances for both teams but India made the most of the PC to make it 1-0.
