Asian Games 2023 Highlights Day 5: Sunil Chhetri-led India suffer pre-QF exit; hockey team win Pool A tie vs Japan

Aifa Binti Azman of Malaysia takes the fourth game by the barest of margins (13-11) against India's Tanvi Khanna. It's 2-2 in the second match of the women's squash pool B match between India and Malaysia.

Manika Batra beats Nepal's Nabita Shrestha 4-0 in women's singles round of 32

Aditi Ashok is doing well in golf. She is currently Tied 2 with a 5-under par score of 67 in the women's individual round 1. She is two strokes behind the leader, 18-year-old Saki Baba of Japan.. Meanwhile, Sharath and Prashanth were T17 and T21. In the women's team round 1 event, India finished in fifth place.

The Indian men's 4x100m relay team has qualified for the finals. The women's 4x200 team have also qualified for their finals.

Manika Batra sealed a 4-0 win vs Nepal's Nabita Shrestha in the women's singles table tennis round of 32 fixture.

Anirban Lahiri is currently ranked T4 in the men's individual round 1. Meanwhile, KH Joshi is also T4 and S Sharma is T12. Meanwhile, in men's team round 1, India are third!

Sreeja Akula lost to Republic of Korea's Pyon Songgyong 0-4 in the women's singles round of 32.

India's mixed skeet team finishes 7th, which means they are out of the medal race. Anant Jeet Singh Neroka and Ganeman Sekhom bowed out of the Games as only the top six out of the eight go to the medal rounds.

Indian shooter Sarabjot Singh misses out on a medal. He finishes 4th in the men's 10m air pistol final with a total score of 199. The other Indian in the final, Arjun Singh Cheema, finished 8th.

India's Arjun Singh Cheema is the first one to be eliminated in the men's 10m air pistol event final. He was not at his best at all. He finishes with a score of 113.3. Sarabjot Singh still in the medal race.

India's Sarabjot Singh drops to No.7 after the next series of five shots. His total score is now 98.4 after 10 shots. Arjun is at the last spot with a total score of 95.7.

The men's 10m Air Pistol final begins. India's Sarabjot Singh starts well with 10.2. 10, 9.9, 9.4 and 10.2. He is at No.2 after the first five shots. The other Indian in the final, Arjun Singh Cheema is at he 7th spot with 9.9, 9.0, 10.6, 9.0, 9.3.

Akula Sreeja is trailing 0-2 against Republic of Korea's Pyon Songgyong. She lost 6-11 4-11 in the first two sets!

Harmeet Rajul Desai, Sreeja Akula lost to Thailand's Phakpoom Sanguansin and Orawan Paranang, in the mixed doubles round of 16 0-3.

Ashok has climbed up the leaderboard in round 1 and is ranked T2 right now! Sharath is T17 and Prashanth is T21.

Sathiyan Gnanasekaran and Manika Batra crashed out of the table tennis mixed doubles event, losing to China's Zhe Yu Clarence Chew, Jian Zeng.

India grabbed gold in the men's 10m air pistol event, with 1734-50x points. The Indian contingent consisted of Sarabjot Singh, Arjun Singh Cheema, Shiva Narwal.

Sarabjot and Arjun also qualify for finals in the individual event.

That was nothing short of incredible from the Indian shooters. They were nowhere in the top 10 of individual standings till the halfway stage and in the team standings, they were languishing at No.5 but it all changed in the last three series.

India are in pole position for gold in the men's 10m air pistol team event, after six rounds. But in the individual category, none are in position to qualify!

India's Shivangi Sharma unlikely to go ahead to the medal round. She finishes 7th in the heats of the 50m women's freestyle with a time 26.92s.

India beat Mongolia 3-0 in the badminton women's team event round of 16 match.

After easy wins for Sindhu and Ashmita, Anupama Upadhaya wins her singles match 21-0, 21-2. There was no need for the doubles matches.

Oh no! It is over! Roshibina crashes to a 2-0 defeat vs China's Wu Xiaowei in the wushu women's 60kg final! Silver medal for India!

The first round in the women's 60kg wushu gold medal match goes to China's Wu Xiaowei. India's Roshibina Devi Naorem still has a chance to make a comeback.

In the men's 10m air pistol event, Arjun Singh has climbed to sixth position after his four rounds. Sarabjot is 18th and Shiva is 30th. Also, in the men's 10m air pistol team event, India are currently fifth. In the skeet mixed team qualification, India are sixth right now!
