“It’s unbelievable,” Qureshi told HT from Basel. “There are not many players who can say that they beat the best player in the world. It was a huge honour just to share the court with him. I had a few opportunities to play against him in singles at Wimbledon and the US Open (2007) but fell short by a round. This was like a dream come true, and beating him in Basel is icing on the cake.”

“I was glad that everyone back home got to share the moment with me,” he said.

The US-Pakistan pair will next take on top seeds Daniel Nestor and Nenad Zimonjic in the quarterfinals.
